The Good Bike Project
We refurbish bikes and supply them to refugees in need.
What started with a couple of bikes in response to a cry for help from a Ukrainian woman that was having difficulty getting her two children to school, has grown to see over 1,500 bikes now donated to refugees in need in Ireland.
Paul McQuaid of River Cycles - beside the James Joyce bridge at Usher's Island - has been receiving donations of old bikes which he refurbishes and passes on to refugees. The initiative has been formalised as 'The Good Bike Project' with support from the Irish Red Cross.
HOW YOU CAN HELP?
We are looking for the Bike to Work community to help support The Good Bike Project by pledging a second hand bike or by donating to help the refurbishment, which costs an estimated €100 per bike.
1. Pledge a second hand bike (either adult or child bike) &
2. Make a donation to their GoFundMe page, details below:
The Good Bike Project provides refugees with the independence to travel to school, work etc. Thank you for your support.
